Avoid trademarked company names or words which may be overused in the industry. Sure, you’ll be able to pick one thing like Nomadic Bob, Adventurous Wendy, or Wandering Clarence. But domains like that won’t stand out very much within the travel blogging niche as a result of these ideas have already been taken by others who are extra established than you.

Where to Stay in Mexico City During Your Visit (Updated 2022)

The skyline of Mexico City, Mexico and its towering skyscrapers and lush greenery
Posted: 11/28/2022 | November 28th, 2022

Mexico City used to be off the radar for many travelers because it was perceived as being dangerous. But things have changed in CDMX (short for Ciudad de México) and today it’s one of the most popular places to visit in the country.

I loved my time in Mexico City. It’s an incredible foodie destination, has a fun nightlife, lots of history, green space, and boasts lots of galleries and museums to explore. (The art and literature scene here is one of the best in the world.)

It’s also a huge, sprawling metropolis, so choosing the right neighborhood to stay in — one that aligns with your interests and travel style — is important. Traffic can be slow, so you don’t want to waste your visit stuck in transit — or risk your safety by staying in the wrong neighborhood.

Should Travel Be Inexpensive?

The term “budget travel” has long been synonymous with “cheap travel.” Finding deals, getting off the beaten path, eating at “non-touristy” (i.e. inexpensive) restaurants, and staying in hostels. The budget traveler is on a quest for a “local” experience at a low cost.

During the 2010s, the rise of sharing economy websites like Airbnb, increased competition in the travel industry, and the growing number of budget airlines offering long-haul flights made traveling on less a lot easier to do.

And travelers took advantage: global tourism rose from 946 million annual travelers to 1.4 billion over the past decade.

However, this spiraling growth created a lot of backlash among residents, as many destinations weren’t equipped to handle so many visitors driving around, clogging streets, and raising the cost of living. Plus, locals didn’t like feeling like they lived in a zoo, constantly being

The 15 Best Books I Read in 2022

Curved shelves lined with books in a bookshop
Posted: 12/20/2022 | December 20th, 2022

For the last five years, I’ve concluded the year with a list of my favorite reads. As a writer, reading comes with the territory. Writers just tend to read a lot. Then again, I’ve always been into reading ever since I was a little kid. I devour books. In a good year, I’ll read close to 80.

This year was not one of those years. I only read about 50 books.

As I compiled this list, I couldn’t help but notice that I gravitated a lot more to history, literature, and self-improvement than I had in the past. Though this is a travel website and I like to read a lot of travel books, I’ve found that so many fall into the same narrative arc that I just needed a break from another book on someone quitting their job to travel.

Instead, I’ve

The view overlooking the River Liffey in Dublin, Ireland as it dives the city on a sunny day
Posted: 12/15/22 | December 15th, 2022

Dublin is a city with soul. While the capital of the Republic of Ireland might not have the aesthetics of Prague or Amsterdam, and while it might not have the in-vogue vibe of Paris or the hustle and bustle of London, it has something that many other European cities lack: soul, ambience, and heart.

There are certainly many historical landmarks and attractions to visit in Dublin: Trinity College, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin Castle, Grafton Street, and the Guinness Brewery, among others. But the real attraction is its warm and welcoming people.

And where to find those friendly Irish folk? In a pub, of course.

Dublin’s true heart and soul lies in its many atmospheric pubs. I’m not advocating you spend your days and nights getting sloshed, but pubs there are the equivalent of the neighborhood osteria or trattoria in Rome or the sidewalk

Checking In: Huka Lodge Review

Turning 30 is scary, exciting, daunting and something worth celebrating – all at once. For my 30th birthday, the turn of a new decade, I wanted to travel somewhere special to me. I was in the mood for somewhere I already had an established connection with, but to experience something new while I was there. A paradox? Maybe. But that turned out to be the catalyst for a 30th birthday gone wrong – that is, until it went so fantastically well, a year later.

I booked my flight to New Zealand a couple of months before my 30th birthday. That was a year ago when shortly thereafter the borders closed and my birthday travel plans turned to dust. But alas! I turned thirty plus one this year and finally, the trip I had so yearned for was back on the cards. I was heading to New Zealand.
