If there’s anywhere in Europe you can guarantee you’ll enjoy in the ski season it is St Moritz. In fact, this town in the Swiss Alps only comes to life when there is snow. 1. Christmas Shopping at Lafayette

This luxury department store is the best place to come Christmas shopping, not only because you can buy every one of your Christmas gifts under one roof but also because of the festive decorations. The enormous Christmas tree which hangs from the ceiling always take centre stage and is a sight to behold. This year the 27-meter high tree will hang upside down and will be decorated in rich colours with thousands of brightly coloured jewels.

There are few places in this world as special as the Four Seasons Golden Triangle. Take it from me, someone who has been fortunate enough to experience many of the world’s most magical destinations and luxury hotels, this particular property is the crème de la crème. So, what is it like to check in to the Four Seasons Golden Triangle? After my recent visit, I can tell you exactly what to expect from this luxurious getaway in Thailand, overlooking Myanmar and Laos.

If you aren’t already privy to the region, the Golden Triangle is a small pocket where three neighbouring countries collide on the Ruak and Mekong rivers. Those countries are Thailand, Myanmar and Laos. Three extremely unique cultures that share also some similarities, making this a very unique place to visit.

For as long as I can remember I have had a love affair with Thailand. In fact, I can probably even pinpoint the moment it happened and the love affair began. I was nineteen years of age when I first visited Thailand. On that trip I travelled straight to Phuket, spending a few nights in Bangkok on the way home to Australia.

But since that trip, I’ve been desperate to seek out more of the country. In particular, I have wanted to visit Chiang Mai.

One of my closest friends Sophie wrote about her time in Chiang Mai here on World of Wanderlust some five or so years ago and it was her sheer enthusiasm for Northern Thailand alone that put this city on the map for me.

And so when I found myself with an invitation to Bangkok to visit and write about the newly opened Four Seasons Bangkok,

I first visited Thailand ten years ago and since then, I’ve told anyone who will listen that it is the best holiday destination for Australians. For starters, the location is ideal. Thailand can be reached directly from Sydney in just 8 hours, adding a few hours for connecting flights either side. Secondly (and in my opinion more importantly), the paradise available when you get there is oh so worth the travel time, regardless of your flight path. For this trip a decade later, I had my sights set on visiting Koh Samui. I had never yet visited the island, having previously opted for Phuket on two occasions. So for my return to travel after the pandemic, I decided now would be as good a time as any to splurge on flights to Koh Samui and stay at the Four Seasons Koh Samui.
